🔥 The Hottest Niches for Creators: To Niche Down or Not?

  • We’re talking monetization here and some of our inspo comes from looking at YouTubes CPM - the cost an advertiser will pay for every 1,000 views by category or niche, and an EP from the Share Your Screen Podcast on TikTok with Nicky.reardon & Cocomocoe, two creators and influencers we adore here <3

  • Before you dive into this content, let me explain how I've curated this list. Drawing from my daily routine, which involves hours of content consumption and endless internet scrolling, I've meticulously crafted this selection.

  • I view YouTube as a prime source for short-form content trends, considering its reputation as the King of Long-form content and creator sustainability. YouTube has consistently served as the epicenter for video content, and creators who began their journey here often enjoy the longest and most lucrative careers.

  • Imagine YouTube as the LVMH of the digital realm, while other platforms like TikTok, Instagram, Twitter (I know, it's technically "X," but let's be real…) and even YouTube's Shorts can be compared to brands under the LVMH umbrella – think Louis Vuitton, Dior, Tiffany, Bulgari.

  • Each platform ignites its own unique trends, but it's fascinating to observe how these trends transcend platform boundaries. Undoubtedly, TikTok has recently revolutionized short-form content, leaving a lasting impact on the social media landscape.

  • However, comparing TikTok's influence to YouTube's extensive history and the ongoing success of its original creators would be like comparing apples to oranges. Let's delve into some of our favorite niches for growth and explore the creators I personally admire within each category.

Let’s take a look at some of my favorite niches to grow in & creators that I personally love from each niche.

#1 FINANCE 💰

  • As boring as it may sound, this is the Niche I grew @nanadelbiz to when I first ventured into the world of TikTok, I grew a modest following of 35K with this type of content.

  • In October 2022, I took a bold step and left my job in Private Equity, kickstarting my content creation journey, which began in March 2022. At that time, I was generating a monthly income of over $7K through content collaborations with brands.

  • The concept of 'making money online,' despite its sometimes skeptical connotations, has gained immense popularity among Gen Z and Millennials. Social media platforms have played a pivotal role in its promotion.

  • Considering the lack of financial education in our conventional schooling systems, it's no surprise that many are turning to digital platforms to access and digest this information. Video content, with its ability to condense and present complex financial topics in an engaging and easily digestible manner, is making financial literacy less daunting and more rewarding. It combines entertainment with education, bridging the gap effectively.

  • Below, I've compiled a list of my favorite creators in this space. These individuals have been instrumental in shaping my personal financial journey, and I believe they can do the same for you.

  • Sim, the leading face behind this page, joined forces with her best friend to establish a thriving community. Their primary objective? Bridging the wealth gap by delving into the realms of investing and wealth building. Oh, and did I forget to mention? She achieved millionaire status by the tender age of 25! Here are a few facets of their business:

  • Tori Dunlap - boasting an impressive 3.7 million followers across two major platforms, I've been an avid follower of Herfirst100K for quite some time. At the young age of 25, having successfully saved here first $100K, she made a courageous choice to depart from her corporate marketing job. This bold move marked the birth of "Her First $100K," a platform with a resolute mission – to combat financial inequality and equip women with actionable resources to enhance their financial well-being.

  • Vivian, an ex Wall-Street trader ranks on Forbes Top Creators list for 2023 and has amassed 4.4M between IG & TikTok helping everyone get rich with her basic tips.

  • I found her originally on TikTok but she also has a podcast called Networth and Chill (a great name btw) where she breaks down complicated economic or business concepts into layman’s terms for us not so super financially savvy people. It is advice coming from experts and herself on how to make the most of your dollars - which we could all use some help there.

#2 JOB CONTENT 🧑‍💻

  • It's a two-way street, I believe. Creators who share 'Day in the Life' (DITL) content, whether from their corporate or entrepreneurial experiences, have valuable insights to offer to those aspiring to secure their 'dream jobs' – a path I also ventured during my initial creator career within the realm of Private Equity.

  • As we discussed earlier, the concept of making money online is a significant driving force behind the popularity of this niche, ranking it at #2.

  • The more information you can provide, the more inquisitive your viewers become, making them more likely to stick around. However, it's worth noting that this increased transparency can come at the cost of your privacy and job...

  • In my own journey, I experienced this firsthand when an ex-colleague repeatedly reported me in an attempt to jeopardize my job. Fortunately, their efforts were in vain, but it did lead me to make the decision to leave- for the better! But perhaps I'll share that story in more detail next time…

Here are some of my fav creators in this niche..

@loganlrobles Here's a creator who's a gamer but also a master at his craft in creating content. His content dives deep into gear, equipment, and lifestyle aspects, and I absolutely enjoy watching his videos. His editing skills are nothing short of amazing, and his branding perfectly aligns with his distinctive style.

@omgadrian He's a filmmaker, a creative entrepreneur, and, in my book, the ULTIMATE storyteller. I just can't seem to get my fill of everything he shares, from insights into his gear and filming process to his editing wizardry and lifestyle content.

Interestingly here’s a mix of Finance AND Job content..

@kiramackenz a personal favorite of mine (and a friend), can be found on TikTok. She's not just an Investor but also a leader in building celebrity partnerships at a growth equity firm. If you have a passion for discovering the intricacies of branding, angel investing, and culture, her page is an absolute gem for you.

@m.iles on TikTok, will lead you to find the ultimate 'Day in the Life' perspective from a finance bro in the heart of London. Even though my own days in that role are behind me, I stumbled upon this account and I've been hooked ever since. The combination of deadpan humor and sharp satire, while offering an authentic glimpse into his daily routine, is nothing short of brilliant!😉

#3 FITNESS 🤸

  • It might seem self-explanatory, but I firmly believe that with the right strategy and posting approach in the fitness content realm, even in its saturated niche, you can achieve growth and monetization.

  • Many people attempt and fall short, but what truly sets you apart from the rest of the fitness influencers is, of course, your unique personality.

@sydgrows is a gym COMFORT account - talk about branding she knew exactly who she was trying to inspire - the girlies that want to lift but need a little push

  • Her TikTok blew up when she posted candid moments of gym go-ers being helpful and uplifting to her

  • From Tiktok to IG & an FB community: Gym Girls Locker Room with over +140K women she’s doing the DAMN thing when it comes to creating original and valuable content in this space

  • I don’t imagine her brand to stop growing anytime soon

#4 BEAUTY TEA TIME

  • I'm not typically a fan of makeup, but the accounts that truly captivate me are those that put a unique spin on the traditional "Get Ready With Me" (GRWM) format.

  • Let's be honest, people only have so much interest in makeup, and the intimate setting of a GRWM video calls for something more engaging, like spilling the tea... on anything it does'n’t have to be dating & relationships

  • Consider this: What stories do you possess that you know you can narrate exceptionally well? Storytelling is an art, and it goes beyond the mechanical aspects.

These creators aren't just outstanding makeup artists; they are also top-tier storytellers.

@enigivensunday Eni Poopla...whatever she’s post I’m listening (she started as a Job content creator mixed with beauty - I found her on TikTok)

  • From the eloquence with which she articulates her thoughts to the engaging topics she discusses while applying products, I'm completely sold.

  • Her sense of style is impeccable, making her an ideal source for both inspiration and practical knowledge.

  • I stumbled upon Eni through her 'Day in the Life' content as a woman working in the high-stakes world of big law in New York City. She shared her journey, from law student to corporate lawyer. Even though

I have no plans to pursue a JD, I couldn't resist tuning in. Let's face it; we're all a little curious at heart, right?

  • I admire a career-driven woman who offers insights on juggling both work and maintaining that 'girl boss' status. Kudos to Eni, as I can only imagine how challenging it must have been to balance both careers.

  • Now, she's a full-time creator, and I believe her background in law, coupled with her influential presence, positions her to offer invaluable content to the world. In my opinion, she's a fantastic role model.

@MonetMcMichael a TikTok sensation that rose to stardom at roughly the same time as Alix Earle, but I'm going to take a bold stance and say this… her personality resonates with me on a deeper level than miss Earle’s. She's not only uproariously funny but also unapologetically genuine, delivering content that's as real and unfiltered as it gets.

#5 FOODIES 🥗

  • This particular niche is intriguing because, much like the fitness space, it's incredibly crowded. However, once again, personalization is the key, and you have the potential to infuse your unique touch.

  • Consider this: How can you allow people to not only appreciate your craft but also get to know you personally, leading to a dedicated and loyal community?

Moving on to the next two creators, they are bridging the worlds of job-related content and food content, but they're adding their own distinctive twist to the mix.

@wishbonechicken started showcasing her DITL’s as a private Hamptons chef that I stumbled upon on TikTok. I wasn't aware that this could be a profession, but I suppose that's part of what makes it so captivating. In addition, she's currently working on a cookbook, which I believe is a direct result of her meteoric rise on Social Media.

Same thing goes for @broccoliraab who also happens to serve as a private chef for a billionaire in the Hamptons – a double whammy that undoubtedly adds to the allure. Once again, 'Day in the Life' content proves to be an effective medium for sharing the story of your world while also educating others about your profession.

  • It's the perfect equation: Value + Personality, and while it might not guarantee TikTok fame, it's certainly worth some food for thought, isn't it?
